Bali Swing

Bali Swing, Ubud – Yay or Nay?

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few years, one of the first images that fills your head when someone mentions Bali would be that of a woman decked up in a flowing dress, gracefully swinging high over lush paddy fields with her feet almost touching the sky. Dreamy, ain’t it? ๐Ÿ™ƒ Thanks to the growing craze for snapping the perfect Instagram picture, several such swings have popped up all across Bali. On top of cliffs, over-looking rice terraces, at beaches – literally, everywhere. But, the one that started it all is Bali Swing in Ubud.

Getting Here

Bali Swing is strategically perched on the face of a hill on the outskirts of Ubud. The views on offer are unparalleled – sprawling rice fields and thick jungles bisected in the middle by the Ayung river. From Ubud center, you can rent a car or motorcycle and get to Bali Swing in less than 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can opt for their shuttle pick-up/drop-off service for an added fee. More details on the packages & pricing can be found here.

Pros

While deciding which swing to opt for, the first criteria we had in mind was safety. Ever so often, there are news stories about serious accidents at these swing adventure parks and honestly, no Instagram shot is worth risking your life for. At Bali Swing, safety comes first. The quality of their equipment & safety harnesses is a cut above the rest and their clean safety track record speaks for itself.

While the giant swings are the crowd-pullers, Bali Swing also offers a number of other activities. From river rafting to Quad bike adventures, there is enough to keep one occupied for an entire day. Couples looking for the perfect honeymoon snap together, check out their bird’s nest shaped photo spots. SO adorable!

That’s us casually lounging on what looks like a giant chicken nest! ๐Ÿ˜…

Cons

Like every coin has two faces, every story has two sides.. Well, you know where I’m going with this. The entry fee to the park excluding the shuttle service from Ubud costs USD 35/person. While it provides access to all the attractions and includes buffet lunch (which was very basic to say the least), I wasn’t convinced that Bali Swing was worth the hefty price tag. Further more, almost every attraction had long queues and the wait time for some like the Adrenaline swing was as much as an hour. To cover everything that Bali Swing has to offer, you would have to set aside one whole day. One full day for a few Instagram snaps? We’ll let you decide.

So, is Bali Swing worth the time and money? Let’s just say Shiv & I would happily swap it to explore a new waterfall or for a Balinese massage the next time. ๐Ÿ™ƒ
